Peace on Earth is still Possible

By Brad Blanton

Peace on earth is not a dreamy romantic ideal to be used as a substitute for raising hell in order to bring about peace. Believe me, bringing about peace on earth is no picnic.

During the 2004 election I ran for Congress as an Independent Green candidate. When asked by reporters what I thought my chances were, I said I didn't think I had a chance in hell. I said I thought that, if I could garner 20 to 30% of the vote, I would consider it a victory and an opportunity to win in 2006. With less than $4000 spent on my campaign, I got 74,272 of 303,422 votes cast in District Seven in Virginia: 24.31% of the vote, and a record for an independent candidate for Congress in Virginia.

Most of the folks in this district who voted for me didn't know me but they knew I

wasn't a Republican. There is a lot of unrest out there. And it is only going to grow.

I am running for Congress again in 2006, starting right now, and I am going to win, not through conning people, but by telling them the truth!

A bunch of us here (radicalhonesty.com) have come to the conclusion that we could do what we know how to do and bring about a real political result! All we have to do is go out there and tell the truth! I don't want to deny any of the bad news of current times, but I do want to encourage you to keep on going… we only have to have two years of his actual control to face. In two years from now, we can take back control of our government. And taking back control of the government may be just a symbol for an actual change of heart that goes deeper and reflects a more profound change in the awareness of Americans about the world and their part in it.

“I hold Krishnamurti’s words close: “The heart of man is in his own keeping. To end violence, we must relentlessly keep freeing ourselves from the violence within. Inner strife projected externally becomes world chaos.” Recognizing that the path to peace is not outside us, we must be cognizant of the energies we project. Remaining naive to this is irresponsible; so is lip service. Though talk alone can uplift, its power pales next to embodying the change we long for.” -- Judith Orloff, M.D., author
